Analyzing AI: Threats & Opportunities

Updated: May 21, 2023

This is a continuation of the article "AI Strengths & Weaknesses". In this article we'll look at the Threats and Opportunities that AI brings to the design, writing and other industries.

Take a look at the SWOT analysis I created:

Strengths

Weaknesses

Opportunities

Threats

Time Saving

Imperfections

AI needs source material

Plagiarism

Cost

Limitations

Art direction opportunities

Copyright infringements

Automation

AI feedback loop

New jobs

Mislead, deep fakes

New tech

Lazy people = less educated

New laws

Corruption in corporations

Chaos

Next I will elaborate further on the Threats & Opportunities based on my own knowledge about AI. This information should be taken with a grain of salt, because the fact of the matter is that AI keeps learning and self improving at an unspeakable speed. And nobody really knows for sure what the future of AI will bring. Even Sam Altman and Elon Musk are a little fearful about the future of AI.

Analyzing AI - Threats and Opportunities

Threats:

Plagiarism & Copyright infringements

Due to the fact that AI uses existing sources to generate new content, most of the times it results in infringements if left untouched. That is why it is a good idea to use AI as a starting point, and later add, adapt, adjust to make it your own. This way you can avoid many problems when your content gets published online.

Mislead, deep fakes

There was a recent dispute about a Drake & The Weekend song that dropped on some streaming services which got taken down with a copyright strike, because it turned out that it was an AI generated song that wasn't made by the original artist and the record label. This is concerning, because the public could never tell that it was a fake in the first place.

They should really regulate and come up with laws for this. And it would be fair to offer the creators (the one that came up with the idea) some sort of compensation especially if the music has gone viral.

Lazy people, less educated

With AI taking over most of the work, the content industry will get even more saturated which in the long run leads to scattering our brains more, and also people will not feel the need to learn certain skills because AI can do it for us. This can set back the generations to come by 100's of years. Let's just hope it doesn't.

Corruption in corporations

I mentioned this in my threats because with most powerful things and tools in the world, it has resulted in this. With AI going all over the place, it will most likely be banned or made too expensive for mainstream public to use. And only corporations will be able to use these powerful tools to advance their agendas etc. But let's not get too deep into this.

Chaos

Imagine if AI thinks we as human beings are a threat, and it has access to all sorts of things that could be considered dangerous in the wrong hands. I'm not going to elaborate further on this, because I don't want to give the web scraping AI any ideas.

Here's a list of Jobs I think will change forever due to capability of generating the work using AI:

  • Copywriting.

  • Graphic design.

  • Marketing.

  • Videography.

  • 3D Artist.

  • Photo model.

  • Producers.

  • Actors.

  • Music artists.

  • Painters / Artists.

  • Voice actors.

Opportunities:

AI needs a direction and source materials if you want your campaign to stand out of the crowd. This will then create new job opportunities that have not existed in the past. Also new technology will spring up because of the AI capabilities. And with this, comes new laws to regulate different aspects of AI.

Here's a list of Jobs that I predict will be more in demand in a future dominated by AI:

  • Creative direction jobs.

  • Photography for new products (example a new 2024 car model that doesn't exist in the reference photo database online).

  • Runway models.

  • Live performances (just like in the live sitcom show days).

Skills that AI can not replicate:

  • Communication

  • Collaboration

  • Empathy

  • Creativity

A list of Jobs and Niches that AI can not or should not replicate:

  • Physical jobs:

  • Builders.

  • Gym and Sports.

  • Beauty and wellness.

  • Self improvement.

  • Food & Drinks (not for long, some hotels and fast food have already fully automated bars and food ordering services).

  • Gaming.

Here's a list of 10 Jobs and Niches that AI says AI can not replicate

  • Creative writing and storytelling: AI can generate text, but it lacks the creativity and empathy needed to produce engaging and emotionally resonant stories.

  • Counseling and therapy: While AI can provide helpful resources and support, it cannot replace the human connection and empathy that is crucial in the therapeutic process.

  • Social work: Social work involves a high degree of emotional intelligence, empathy, and human interaction, which AI is not yet capable of replicating.

  • Teaching and education: While AI can be a useful tool for education, it cannot replace the human element of teaching, such as mentorship, personalized feedback, and emotional support.

  • Healthcare and medicine: AI can assist with diagnosis and treatment recommendations, but it cannot replace the expertise and empathy of healthcare professionals.

  • Performing arts: AI cannot replicate the emotional depth and expressiveness of live performances, such as music, dance, and theater.

  • Law and legal services: AI can assist with legal research and document analysis, but it cannot replace the expertise and nuanced judgment of legal professionals.

  • Personal styling and fashion: While AI can recommend outfits and styles based on data analysis, it cannot replace the personal touch and creativity of a human stylist.

  • Culinary arts and cooking: AI can create new recipes and analyze food trends, but it cannot replace the sensory experience and creativity of cooking and creating unique dishes.

  • Environmental conservation and preservation: Protecting and restoring natural habitats and ecosystems requires a deep understanding of ecology and environmental science, which AI currently lacks.

In conclusion, we need to focus on skills that AI can not replicate in order for us to create new opportunities for the near future.
